The National Academy of Sciences has recently released a statement claiming that the Earth's current temperatures are the hottest the planet has been in the past 400 years. In fact, it may be the hottest the Earth's been in the past 2000 years. Of course, the Bush Administration maintains that the threat is unimportant. They do not want to create new pollution control laws because they are afraid of what they will do to our economy. I do understand that fear, but at some point we need to look at the bigger picture.NP: Nothing... the sweet sound of nothing

Short term vs. long term. I think that's more of a political divide these days that Republican vs. Democrats, or any other dualistic split that's out there.
All the evidence seems to be pointing to something going on, so its just a matter of time before it hits the fan. Hopefully we're not over the edge by then!
